Amanda Beery

Youth Mentoring Director

I was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA where I attended Liberty University before moving to the Hampton Roads area. I have been married for 8 years to my sweet husband; and we collectively have 6 adult children! I am the director of our Wave Cheerleading program; and I also direct the Shine Girl youth mentoring program where we train our amazing volunteers to mentor the lives of middle and high school girls in our schools and communities.

In addition to my work at Wave City Care, I also work as the East Coast Rep for the Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders (FCC). FCC is the largest Christian Cheerleading organization in America. I also own a choreography company where I travel creating routines and training coaches and teams across the US.

All of my life passions and my ministry are pouring into young girls’ lives, training others in leadership, and raising up champions in life. I could not be more blessed by all those I encounter through Wave City Care! I feel blessed beyond words to be a part of such an amazing community outreach organization where I can use the gifts I have been blessed with to make a difference in the lives of others in our community and world!

April Sherman

Business Manager

I was born and raised in Norfolk, VA. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Bluefield College and my Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Averett University. I have over 20 years of experience in administration, management, finance, marketing, sales, fundraising, contracting, and business operations. My husband Chris and I reside in Virginia Beach and have two children, Christina and Samantha. Our family has been a part of Wave Church for 5 years. Samantha has cheered on the Wave Sharks team for 4 years; and Christina coached the Wave Cheer Guppies for 3 years. I believe in trying to make a difference in the life of everyone I meet by being a friendly face, a smile, an ear, a shoulder, and a word of encouragement for all. I want to help everyone realize and utilize their gifts and talents to make their piece of the world a better place.

Aaron Gary

Manpower Youth Mentoring Director

I was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, and just recently moved to Virginia Beach in the summer of 2021. I am currently enrolled in Southeastern University and am in pursuit of a degree in Biblical Studies. Prior to moving to Virginia Beach I spent the past ten years doing Pastoral ministry in Richmond. The three things that I loved doing the most during that time were; leading a college campus ministry at VCU, starting an after school program in the inner-city of Richmond, and doing frequent visits to juvenile detention centers. It has been a major honor spreading the love of God in so many diverse ways. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon and I am excited about all the great things God is going to do and all the fun that will be had along the way. One day my desire would be to take all my previous experience, partnered with God, and plant a life giving church that will have an impact for generations.
